Thrust blocks provide structural restraint for underground water pipes and valves, utilizing epoxy-coated number four reinforcing bars with a twelve-inch minimum embedment. Bearing faces must be poured against undisturbed soil or approved compacted backfill using 3000 PSI concrete. A schedule provides required bearing areas in square feet for pipe sizes ranging from four to ten inches across eight different installation conditions. Valve anchors are required for valves six inches or larger.
