An assembly and installation sequence for an exothermic weld connection onto a pipeline surface uses a graphite mold. The setup features a graphite mold housing starting powder, metal welding powder, a metal disc, and a sleeve connecting the cable to the pipe surface, all covered by a graphite cover with an attached handle. The installation procedure involves five distinct steps: filing the connection area to bare metal, stripping wire insulation and attaching a sleeve for number six AWG wire or smaller, holding the mold firmly with the opening away from the operator and igniting with a flint gun, removing slag and peening the weld, and finally applying an epoxy coating compound or Royston Handy Cap over the exposed structure surface.
