This elevation detail shows a hollow structural section column anchored to a foundation footing with a base plate sized per schedule within a structural blockout. Column blockouts are specified when the slab-on-grade is poured prior to column erection, maintaining a six-inch minimum clearance on all sides. Number four dowels are spaced at twelve inches on center typically around all four sides of the column with a one-foot minimum embedment. Continuous slab reinforcement or two number five minimum trim bars are positioned at the top of the slab, tying into the slab reinforcement sized per plan. The footing top and bottom elevations and slab reinforcement are coordinated per the structural plan.
