A six-inch by eight-inch cast-in-place concrete header restrains an asphalt concrete pavement edge adjacent to a tree or planting area. The header features three-quarter-inch radii on its top outer corners and a one-in-four batter along the pavement interface. Two continuous number four reinforcing bars run horizontally within the concrete profile with three inches of clear cover from the bottom. The adjacent structural section consists of asphalt concrete pavement over a base course and prepared sub-grade.
