Gravel bags are arranged in streets and around inlets for sediment and erosion control during construction operations. The first row of gravel bags must be embedded to half their depth with openings maintained at inlets and gaps between bags functioning as spillways. Stacking configurations require three layers of bags with overlapped ends and specific heights such as three bags high and two bags high at low points. A spacing table dictates row intervals based on street grades ranging from under two percent up to ten percent.
