A one-foot thick concrete slab transitions to an adjacent asphalt paving section supported by an untreated base course. A tack coat is applied per APWA specifications between the vertical interface of the asphalt and concrete. The concrete slab features a one-foot wide vertical drop forming a thickened edge, with a one-foot transition slope extending down to the sub-base elevation.
