The assembly features a six-inch ductile iron pipe connected to a six-by-two-and-a-half-inch four-way fire department connection equipped with a six-inch swing check or wafer check valve. A thirty-six-inch post indicator valve with a Knox lock and tamper switch wiring conduit is installed alongside the fire department connection. Both vertical risers tie into the underground water main using mechanical joint by flanged adapters and flanged fittings bearing on concrete thrust blocks. Underground fittings are wrapped in ten-mil plastic and all components comply with NFPA standards.
