A four-inch thick Portland cement concrete sidewalk is placed over a compacted select fill and compacted subgrade with a one percent slope toward the curb and gutter. The expansion joint features a one-half inch preformed joint filler topped with bituminous joint sealer and a typical tooled edge, spanning a joint width of one-half inch by one inch deep. The contraction joint is spaced at a maximum of six feet on center within a maximum forty-eight foot overall span, utilizing a one-eighth inch wide by three-quarter inch deep groove with typical tooled edges. A one-half inch expansion joint separates the sidewalk slab from the adjacent concrete curb and gutter assembly.
