This assembly consists of a twelve-inch square frame and grate set atop a twelve-inch schedule forty polyvinyl chloride perforated riser pipe. The riser is encased in a pit of free-draining pit run material and one to two-inch diameter washed drain rock, all wrapped in non-woven geotextile fabric with a minimum one-foot overlap. The perforated pipe requires one-inch diameter holes spaced twelve inches center-to-center around the top, with no holes in the bottom third of the pipe. An isolated storm drain connects to the riser, and heat tape is required for installations under roadways or where cover is less than four feet. Advanced Drainage Systems N-12 corrugated high-density polyethylene pipe may be substituted for the polyvinyl chloride pipe, provided it meets American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Class II perforation standards.
