A typical asphaltic pavement section for parking and roadway areas consists of an asphalt wearing course of varying thickness over a compacted road base and prepared subgrade. Standard duty parking areas require three inches of asphalt over eight inches of base course, while heavy duty roadway areas require four inches of asphalt over eight inches of base course. All layer thicknesses are subject to project specifications and soils report overrides.
