Layered construction of asphaltic pavement for parking and roadway areas. An upper layer of asphalt pavement is supported by a road base course over a compacted subgrade. Standard duty parking areas require three inches of asphalt and eight inches of base course. Heavy duty roadway areas require four inches of asphalt and eight inches of base course. A project note mandates referring to the soils report for project-specific section requirements which override standard dimensions.
