Straw wattles measuring eight to ten inches in diameter are placed along site contours and embedded three inches into the existing ground surface within a three by five inch minimum excavated trench. Wood stakes measuring one inch square minimum secure each wattle with a three foot six inch typical spacing. Adjacent rolls are installed to tightly abut each other to prevent runoff bypass.
