An eight-inch diameter extra strength steel pipe bollard is filled with concrete and topped with a smooth curved concrete cap. The post is welded with a five-sixteenths inch fillet weld to a one-half inch thick steel base plate, which is reinforced by four one-quarter inch gusset plates. The entire plate and pipe assembly is hot-dipped galvanized and painted safety yellow. Type 1A installations include an MC 8x18.7 steel channel welded to the post via a one-half inch steel plate. The assembly is anchored to a twelve-inch minimum concrete slab on grade using three-quarter inch diameter stainless steel expansion anchors at each corner with a four and one-half inch minimum embedment.
