A utility door header assembly is integrated into a concrete masonry unit wall. The exterior features a sheet water barrier over one-half-inch treated plywood, finished with cement fiber lap siding over seven-eighth-inch hat channels. A one-by synthetic wood cant, four feet long typical with one-half-inch spacing between lengths, sits below a foam plastic molded trim. A three-eighth-inch joint filled with backer rod and sealant occurs at the transition to the door. The interior incorporates a grout-filled hollow metal door frame with a caulk joint, and gypsum board extended to the door frame connecting to the interior wall assembly.
