A three-foot concrete waterway section features a 2% cross-slope and a 1 1/4-inch central depression. The concrete channel is reinforced with three number 4 reinforcing bars at 12 inches on center and number 4 reinforcing bars at 24 inches on center. The assembly bears on an 8-inch untreated base course conforming to APWA Section 32 11 23, with a prohibition on gravel use without engineer permission. Adjacent asphalt surfacing transitions directly to the concrete edges with a 9-inch depth. Construction must follow APWA Standard Plan No. 211 specifications.
