A Handy Cap or equal protective cap is positioned over an exothermic weld on a ductile iron pipe or fitting, measuring four inches across its base. A copper sleeve secures the joint bond cable or test station cable, which is sized as required. The exothermic weld connects the cable to the pipe and is referenced to detail 4 on sheet CP-8.
