A preformed compression seal is set into a widened joint at the top of the Portland cement concrete pavement, lubricated according to manufacturer specifications. The top of the seal is positioned six below the pavement surface. An initial saw cut extends downward from the base of the seal cavity, with its depth determined by table three. The joint width ranges from six to thirteen and centers directly over the initial saw cut.
