This heavy asphalt pavement section consists of a two-and-a-half-inch asphalt concrete surface course made of one-half-inch dense-graded, level three hot mix asphalt over a one-and-a-half-inch asphalt concrete base course of the same material mix. The asphalt courses are supported by a twelve-inch subbase course set above a non-woven geotextile fabric and a compacted subgrade. The asphalt concrete is placed in two lifts unless otherwise approved by the engineer.
