This gypsum board ceiling expansion joint detail accommodates building movement up to a maximum of one-half inch to one inch. The suspension system supports the ceiling framing on each side of the joint. Gypsum board panels attach to the framing members adjacent to the expansion gap. A twenty-five gauge minimum filler strip spans the joint opening to maintain a continuous finished surface.
