Two cold-formed steel framing splice details provide methods for extending studs and tracks using overlapping nested sections. The top detail provides a track splice formed by inserting a twenty-four-inch minimum piece of stud inside the top or bottom track, secured with six number six gauge screws on each flange and each side of the splice. The bottom detail provides a stud splice formed by nesting a twenty-four-inch minimum piece of track inside the steel stud, similarly fastened with six number six gauge screws on each flange and each side of the splice. Twelve-inch minimum overlap dimensions are maintained on each side of the joint centerline.
