This assembly utilizes a double J-type vertical control joint with expanded lath flanges wire-tied to the lath and secured with furring screws. The joint is centered over a nine-inch wide strip of self-adhering flashing. Behind the control joint, two layers of building paper and self-adhering membrane are installed, with an additional sacrificial layer of building paper applied over the membrane to serve as a bond breaker. Where studs do not occur, eighteen-gauge metal backing is provided to support the fasteners. The lath is affixed to the studs, which are sized per schedule.
