A metal access panel is integrated into an acoustical plaster or gypsum board ceiling system with framing supported by perimeter sheet metal angles. The 1 1/2-inch by 1 1/2-inch by 25-gauge sheet metal angles are installed at each side of the access panel opening and attached with a minimum of two number 8 self-tapping sheet metal screws. The metal frame extends beyond the ceiling attachment point to support the ceiling assembly.
