An underground pipe is fully encased in twenty-eight day three thousand psi concrete to provide physical protection. The encasement requires a minimum six inch clearance around the outer diameter of the pipe top and bottom, with the trench width determined by a typical trench section. The assembly bears on a foundation approved by the engineer and is surrounded by suitable backfill.
