This plan detail shows the installation of a call-button box recessed into a shaftwall assembly. The framing consists of C-H studs faced with two layers of 5/8-inch gypsum board on one side and a 1-inch gypsum liner panel on the other. A minimum 4-inch dimension accommodates the electrical box installation. A 25-gauge steel strip measuring 6 inches by 12 inches minimum reinforces the shaftwall backing at the call-button box location.
