A bathtub installs against a wood-framed wall. The assembly features a cast polymer marble tub surround installed over five-eighths inch moisture-resistant Type X gypsum wallboard with butt strips at joints and sanitary sealant at the tub rim interface. Wood blocking consisting of a two-by-four and two-by-six provides structural support behind the enclosure. An additional layer of five-eighths inch moisture-resistant Type X gypsum board is installed behind the tub at rated wall conditions. Gypcrete is applied at the tub location to align with the top of the adjacent finished floor.
