A pipe penetration passes through a one-hour fire-rated wall assembly framed out with a minimum three-and-five-eighths-inch steel stud or a minimum two-by-four wood stud. The opening is trimmed with one-and-a-half-inch by one-and-a-half-inch minimum twenty-two-gauge steel angles secured by one-and-five-eighths-inch steel screws spaced maximum two inches from each end and at maximum five inches on center. The penetrating items accommodated include a maximum six-inch diameter steel pipe, a maximum six-inch diameter cast iron pipe, a maximum three-inch diameter copper pipe, a maximum six-inch diameter steel conduit, and a maximum four-inch diameter electrical metallic tubing.
