A rectangular duct penetrates a framed gypsum board partition with a maximum one-half inch gap between the edge of the gypsum board and the duct. The opening is framed with support angles, and partition hangers are positioned on each side of the partition. Acoustical joint sealant is applied at non-rated partitions, while penetration firestopping is used at fire-rated partitions. Acoustic blanket insulation lines the surrounding framing.
