A cold-formed steel partition wall head connects to an overhead concrete slab. A slotted head track is secured to the concrete slab using one-quarter-inch diameter expansion bolts spaced at sixteen inches on center maximum. Number ten by one-half-inch wafer head screws are installed at the mid-height of the slot on each side, allowing for vertical deflection with a three-quarter-inch maximum movement joint. Firestop sealant is applied at rated assemblies, utilizing polyethylene backer rod or mineral wool behind the sealant for two-hour rated assemblies per UL system HW-D-0079. Gypsum board partitions are finished per schedule.
