A continuous 3x3x1/4-inch steel angle with 1/2-inch diameter by 6-inch long welded studs spaced at 12 inches on center protects the concrete slab edge at the recess. The depressed concrete slab features a thickness varying up to 1 foot 8 inches maximum with a 6-inch base slab reinforced with number 4 bars at 12 inches on center each way. A construction joint ties into the main concrete slab utilizing 6-inch minimum Hilti RE500 epoxy anchors or equal where required.
