A two-hour rated shaft wall corner assembly is constructed with wood or metal framing and two layers of 5/8-inch type X gypsum board on each side. The gypsum panels overlap at the corner and are screw-attached with a corner bead finishing the exterior edge. A J-runner tracks the perimeter framing at the shaft transition per assembly requirements.
