Cold-formed steel wall studs terminate below a composite floor deck or steel roof deck with a metal deflection track. The metal deflection track is fastened to the deck using powder-driven fasteners at composite decks and sheet metal screws at metal decks, maintaining a maximum two-inch gap and a minimum one-and-a-half-inch gap. A metal runner track nests inside the deflection track to match the gauge of the wall studs. Gypsum board is attached strictly to the metal studs and left unfastened to the metal deflection track. For conditions parallel to the metal deck flutes, a continuous sixteen-gauge metal plate is added below the deck per detail references.
