A two-hour fire-rated steel stud partition assembly comprises floor and ceiling transition sections and a horizontal plan view. The partition is constructed from steel studs spaced at sixteen inches on center with type two insulation centered in the cavity and two layers of five-eighths-inch type X gypsum board on each side. The base track is secured to the finish floor slab using shot-in anchors spaced at twelve inches on center with a maximum spacing of six inches from the ends. Continuous fire stopping is provided at the floor junction per Underwriters Laboratories design number BW-S-0001 and ICC report number ESR-2269. The wall assembly complies with Underwriters Laboratories design number U419 with all openings protected.
