A structural steel column terminates at the roof deck with an L4 x 4 x 1/4 angle brace on each side at the deck bearing, extending to the nearest joist or beam. A 1/2-inch closure plate caps the top of the column. Three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds secure the angle to the column, and typical roof deck attachments connect the deck to the angle per structural specifications.
