Cold-formed steel wall studs are capped with a metal runner track nested into a metal deflection track to maintain a minimum 1 1/2" gap beneath a composite floor deck or steel roof deck. The deflection track is fastened to the deck with powder-driven fasteners at composite decks and sheet metal screws at metal decks. Gypsum board is attached to the metal studs and kept unfastened from the metal deflection track. Continuous 16-gauge metal plates and continuous acoustical sealant are applied on both sides at the partition head. Acoustical insulation fills the stud cavity and is shaped to fit within the deck flutes.
