A C12x20.7 steel channel connects to a steel column through a 3/8-inch by 3-1/2-inch by 3-1/2-inch cap plate welded to the column top with a 1/4-inch fillet weld. A 3/8-inch by 3-1/2-inch by 9-inch plate attaches the channel web using two 3/4-inch diameter ASTM A325-N bolts and a 1/4-inch fillet weld.
