A steel column supports framing members via a three-quarter-inch cap plate welded with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds and reinforced by three-eighth-inch thick stiffener plates. Two three-quarter-inch diameter A307 machine bolts are provided at each end for the connection. An eight-inch by seven-eighths-inch by two-foot-six-inch plate is notched and welded to the beam shear plate with a three-eighths-inch weld spaced at fourteen inches typical. An intermediate steel beam is omitted from view for clarity, with a complete joint penetration weld indicated at the joint.
