Two distinct erosion control installations protect catch basins at low points using filter fabric silt fences and hay bales. The silt fence detail utilizes two-by-four wooden stakes driven a minimum of twelve inches into the ground with wooden lateral cross braces as needed, and filter fabric tucked six to twelve inches into grade. The hay bale detail anchors each bale with two two-by-two by three-foot stakes surrounding the catch basin inlet. Both configurations manage stormwater flow direction while filtering sediment runoff. General notes require stormwater inlets without sediment trap discharge to be protected until tributary areas stabilize, and sediment removal must occur after each storm event.
