An expansion joint assembly spans across a steel beam supporting a one-and-a-half-inch metal roof deck with rigid insulation and a single-ply membrane roofing system. Two-by-four pressure-treated wood nailers flank the opening, secured above the metal decking with two inches of fiberglass insulation filler below and a continuous neoprene closure spanning the gap. A foam rod, sized one-and-a-half times larger than the expansion joint width, sits in the opening with the single-ply membrane roofing extended up and over it. An isometric view shows the continuous cleat fastened at sixteen inches on center along the concrete tilt-up panel and the sloped coping sealed and fastened at twenty-four inches on center on both sides.
