A standard lap splice in a reinforced concrete column member. The assembly is detailed with eight number eight longitudinal reinforcing bars distributed symmetrically across a two-foot wide section. Transverse confinement is provided by number four ties spaced at five inches on center. The overlapping splice zones are dimensioned symmetrically to ensure proper load transfer between vertical reinforcement bars.
