A continuous bead of sealant fills the gap within a control joint located between two gypsum board panels mounted on metal studs. Control joints are required on all straight run metal stud and gypsum board walls at thirty-foot maximum centers and where specifically noted on floor plans. The gypsum panels terminate at the joint with specialized control joint trim to accommodate minor movement.
