An L4 x 4 x 1/4 angle brace is positioned at the deck bearing on each side at the top of the steel column and extends to the nearest joist or beam. A 1/2-inch closure plate caps the column top. The angle is welded to the steel column with a 3/16-inch fillet weld on both sides, indicated by a field weld symbol. Roof deck attachment to the angle is provided per structural drawings.
