The assembly connects a steel girder to a vertical column using a three-quarter-inch cap plate secured with two three-quarter-inch diameter A307 machine bolts at each end. Three-eighths-inch thick stiffener plates are welded to the column with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. A separate plate per detail 6/SD.4 is notched and welded to the beam shear plate with a complete joint penetration weld. A steel beam is positioned above but not shown for clarity, spaced with a three-inch gap. Additional framing members connect lower on the column profile.
