Metal grate treads with checkered plate nosing are supported by steel stringers sized per structural plans. A three-sixteenth-inch thick painted perforated steel riser closure with solid edges is welded to the stringer. The guardrail features a doubled one-half by three-inch vertical steel bar at four-foot maximum spacing, filled with one-half-inch horizontal steel rods and secured with three-quarter-inch diameter steel bolts with acorn caps.
