A square steel bracing column penetrates a gypsum board ceiling with a tight-fitting perimeter joint. Continuous sealant is applied around the column to seal the joint between the steel member and the gypsum board ceiling. The structural steel configuration is coordinated per structural drawings, and the ceiling layout is coordinated with reflected ceiling plans.
