An exterior hollow metal door and frame rest upon an aluminum door threshold set over a galvanized sheet metal pan flashing. The flashing laps over a waterproofing membrane that extends down the vertical face of the concrete slab. A continuous expansion joint with sealant at the top separates the exterior concrete flatwork sidewalk from the concrete mat slab below. The concrete slab bears on void forms or sub-base materials shown in the foundation assembly.
