This interior partition detail shows back-to-back electrical junction boxes installed in a rated wall assembly with a required minimum horizontal separation of twelve inches and less than twenty-four inches. A quarter-inch gap at the box perimeter is filled with acoustic sealant. A putty pad seals the back and sides of the junction box airtight to maintain acoustic and fire performance ratings.
