A non-seismic suspension and bracing configuration for a variable air volume (VAV) box connects to overhead building structure. The assembly is hung using typical straps fastened to the top or bottom of the structure depending on field conditions, with strap sizes determined in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards. Three duct diameters of straight inlet are maintained upstream of the VAV box, connecting to supply air ductwork sized per mechanical floor plans. A rectangular to round transition piece is fitted at the outlet side, accompanied by diagonal sway braces at the outlet side of the VAV box. Straps are attached to the VAV box using three number ten sheet metal screws, with two screws on the side and one on the bottom typically on four sides. Upper attachment devices follow SMACNA duct construction standards first edition guidelines.
