This non-rated interior steel stud partition detail shows steel studs faced with two layers of 5/8-inch gypsum board on the symbol side and optional sound attenuation blankets within the cavity. A metal flat strap provides lateral bracing as required across the framing. The accompanying schedule details stud sizes ranging from 1-5/8 inches to 6 inches, resulting in basic partition thicknesses from 2-3/4 inches to 7-1/4 inches with corresponding STC ratings from 30 to 36. Partitions extend either to the structure above, six inches above the ceiling, or to the finished ceiling line.
