Steel bar joists bear on the top flange of a supporting steel beam sized per the roof framing plan. A six-inch nailer matching the width of the beam flange is installed between the bar joists and secured with seven-eighths-inch diameter weld studs spaced at twelve inches on center. A three-by-three-by-one-quarter-inch angle brace is welded at every joist location with a quarter-inch fillet weld. Angle braces are welded to the beam after the roof is installed, coordinated with sprinkler pipes, and kept within six inches of the top chord panel point or supported by an auxiliary web. Additional callouts indicate a 0.5K allowable stress design load, two rows of bridging noted, and a reference to detail 7 unless otherwise noted.
