A concrete slab step bears on a wide flange steel beam with a 3/8-inch full-depth stiffener plate welded at 4'-0" on center maximum. An L5x3 1/2x3/8 angle supports the transition, welded with a 3/8-inch weld on three sides. Reinforcing bars include #3 bars at 16 inches on center.
